Landscape Architect
I was born in the Galle District, in Southern Province of Sri Lanka in 1967, lying next to the Indian Ocean surrounded by fertile paddy fields in this beautiful island blessed with natural environment. Hence, my childhood was spent in very beautiful environment.
I entered Richmond College, Galle in 1976 and passed the university entrance in 1989. I was in the Faculty of Architecture of University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and obtained the BSc. (Built Environment) Architecture degree in December 1995. Subsequently, as I had an interest in the subject of Landscape Architecture and being aware of the importance of the subject in the future, I obtained a MSc. Degree in Landscape Architecture in the year 2000.
Then I joined the International Federation of Landscape Architects, IFLA as an individual member for Sri Lanka, and established a National Institute for Sri Lanka in the year 2009 through the relevant guidelines from IFLA.
In the year 2009, I was appointed as the inaugural Vice President of Sri Lanka Institute of Landscape Architects, SLILA. Subsequently, In the year 2022, I was appointed as President of SLILA and also Chairperson of the SLILA International Affairs Committee. From the inception of SLILA, I have been with IFLA as country delegate for Sri Lanka to date.
In the year 2000, I joined the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI), as an Assistant Director, and eventually promoted as a Deputy Director, Collectively, I have served 15 years as Deputy Director – Research. Currently, I am working in the position of Director in the same organization.
