Professor Li Xiong serves as the Vice President of Beijing Forestry University and is a distinguished doctoral supervisor. He holds key positions on several national committees, including the Landscape Architecture and Urban Design Committees of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development’s Science and Technology Committee, as well as the Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Education. He is also the Vice President of the Chinese Society of Landscape Architectur CHSLA), where he chairs the Education Committee, and the Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Parks. Additionally, he serves as the Vice Chairman of the National Steering Committee for Professional Degrees in Landscape Architecture, and is a member of the Ministry of Education’s Steering Committee for Architectural Education, where he also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Landscape Architecture Subcommittee. Professor Li is also the President of the Landscape Architecture Branch of the Chinese Society of Forestry. 

Professor Li Xiong is a leading landscape architectural scholar, educator, and designer in contemporary China. Focusing on integrating research and practice, he establishes a comprehensive theory concerning urban green space planning, rural landscape planning, and landscape design. Through teaching and practice, Professor Li has made irreplaceable contribution to Chinese landscape architecture, significantly increasing its visibility to the public.  

Professor Li has been dedicated to landscape architectural education at Beijing Forestry University (BFU) for 36 years during which period he served first as the Dean of the School of Landscape Architecture and recently as the Vice President. Under his leadership, BFU’s landscape architecture has greatly increased its national and international influences. In the China University Subject Rankings, it ranked No. 1 in 2012 and A+ in 2017 and 2021. 

Under his mentorship, students have won 67 awards in international and national design competitions, including four First Prizes in the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) International Student Landscape Architecture Design Competition. His outstanding contributions to education have earned him numerous accolades, including the National Teaching Achievement Award (Second Prize), the Beijing Teaching Excellence Award, and the Baosteel Outstanding Teacher Award. Professor Li's contributions to the field of landscape architecture have been widely recognized. He has received the National Innovation Award, the IFLA Asia-Pacific LA LUMINARY AWARD, the First Prize of the Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award, the First Prize of the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture’s Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of the Ministry of Education's Science and Technology Progress Award, and the Liang Xi Science and Technology Progress Award, among others. He has published seven monographs and over 200 academic papers. Professor Li has led over 160 major landscape design projects, earning more than ten prestigious awards, including the BALI National Landscape Awards, IFLA Asia-Pacific Awards, and the LI Awards from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). His work has also been honored with over 30 national awards, including the National Engineering Survey and Design Award (First Prize), the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture's Outstanding Planning and Design Award (First Prize), the Ministry of Education's Outstanding Survey and Design Award (First Prize), and the Beijing Excellent Landscape Design Award.
