Council Meeting: Cebu, Philippines

The IFLA APR Regional Council Meeting was held on November 6, 2019, prior to the 78th Congress with a focus on the theme: ‘Commonssense’: Linking the Commons and Engaging Communities in Sustainable Development (November 7-9, 2019).

Just last year, IFLA APR declared a Regional and Global Climate & Biodiversity Emergency. The declaration made on the 6 November 2019 affirms the commitment to a significant long-term shift in thinking, behavior, and policy, and was unanimously endorsed by the regional council meeting’s attending member association delegates. The meeting provided a clear mandate to map out an action plan of what IFLA-APR will do in response to the issues facing the region. Read more about the declaration here: https://bit.ly/2AMojxv

The congress took place at the Waterfront Hotel, Cebu City, Philippines and aimed to gather the landscape architectural community and allied professions to engage in discussions, create bonds, forge connections, generate insights, and delve deeper into the commons through different activities that exhibit sustainable developments tied in with the communities and spaces; on how these factors can harmoniously coexist.

On behalf of IFLA APR, we would like to thank all our participants, partners, and sponsors for making the three-day event a success!

See you at the next Regional Council Meeting in 2020!
