The Future of IFLA APR - What to expect
Our ship will soon embark on a new journey.
I hope that it will be a journey of challenge blessed with fair winds.
As a candidate for president, I would like to thank all of you who have encouraged me to step up to the role.
IFLA APR stands on a foundation built on the efforts of past presidents and many delegates.
Damian, you have built a new platform on top of the foundation.
It includes the implementation of the IFLA APR Awards that promotes the establishment of the landscape architect's abilities; a major approach to deal with global warming and abnormal weather, etc.; a small but very important community project in Timor Leste; and the strengthening of the organisation that enables these projects. It was a lot of passionate effort.
The role of the next era is to further expand the platform, promote diversification and strengthen the network.
In this way, I add value to the policy and business that has been established.
The next thing I want to do is prepare for the future.
The first is my observation that there are many countries in Asia that have not yet joined IFLA APR.
There are countries that have a happy life while nurturing the relationship between nature and people, and there are energetic countries that are developing at a rapid speed.
Landscape capabilities and knowledge are needed in every country.
I want to inform these countries as early as possible that IFLA exists and that we have the desire to work together.
I want to cherish the heart of learning together.
With the participation of new members, we realise the diversity of civilisation, culture and environment. We can appreciate the unique nature of Asia and the true richness that people often forget because of its rapid development.
The second is enhancement of the internship system.
My company has accepted over 300 young students and graduates from over 30 countries over the past 30 years.
It is very important for the younger generation to experience landscape practices in different countries.
By recognising differences in culture, tradition, nature, etc., you can return to the fundamentals of landscape design.
You can spread exchanges with students from other countries, and the network established will be a treasure for the future.
And if these can be linked to the university curriculum, students can spend months of experience in several countries.
This journey would not be easy.
However, I received a lot of encouragement at the IFLA APR congress in Cebu.
Many young delegates were willing to offer cooperation.
In addition, experienced leaders continue to strengthen their direction.
The most pleasant thing is that there was an offer of cooperation from Damian.
My fellow landscape architects and friends,
I am very proud of this work.
Many people live in this world with dreams.
But many of them are looking for ways to make their dreams come true.
Our job is to meet those people and share their dreams. You can work towards the realisation of their dreams.
This is a great job.
I want to share it not only with our generation but also with the younger generation with passion.
Encourage participation in many non-participating countries and expand an internship system by sharing the process with new members.
The platform built by our predecessors is dynamic and flexible enough to freely support new ideas.
Let's aim for a stronger and more relevant IFLA APR together.

私たちの船出は間もなく始まろうとしています。
風に恵まれた希望に満ちたチャレンジの旅であることを願っています。
President に候補するにあたり、多くの人々の励ましと激励を受けてこの舞台に立てたことにお礼申し上げます。
私たちIFLA APRは歴代の会長、多くのデリゲートたちの努力の上に築かれたFoundationの上には立っています。
ダミアンあなたは今までの土台の上に新たなプラットフォームを構築してくれました。
それはランドスケープアーキテクトの職能の確立を推進するIFLA Award の実施,地球温暖化、異常気象などへの大きな取り組み、東チモールの小さくてもとても大切な心の取り組み、そしてそれらを可能とする組織の強化等の情熱的な多くの努力でした。
次の時代の役目はそのプラットフォームをさらに広げ、多様化を促進して、ネットワークを強めて強靭にして行くことにあります。
私は、このように今までのPolicyと事業の継続性を大切に考えます。
次に取り組みたいことは未来に対する布石です。
アジアにはまだIFLA APR に加入していない国が沢山あります。
これらの国々は今までの自然と人との関わりを大切に育みながら幸せな生活を過ごしている国々や、急速なスピードで発展を進めているエネルギッシュな国々などがあります。
どのような国においてもランドスケープの能力と知識は必要とされています。
私はできるだけ早い時期にこれらの国々にIFLAの存在を伝え、私たちは共に進みたい心を持っていることを伝えたいと思います。
そしてその時大切にしたいのは共に学び合うという心です。
新たなメンバーの加入によって, 私たちは文明、文化、環境の多様性を知り、急速な発展という名の下で忘れがちであった大切なアジアの独自の自然観、真の豊かさに気づく事ができます。
もう一つはインターンシップ制度の充実です。
私の会社は過去３０年ほどの間に３０を超える国々から３００名を超える若い世代を受け入れてきました。
若い世代にとって異なった国々でランドスケープの世界の実務を体験することはとても大切です。
文化、伝統、自然、等の違いに気づきランドスケープデザインの根本に立ち戻ることができます。
また異国で他国の学生たちと交流を広めることができ、そのネットワーは将来に宝となります。
もしAPRの国々の事務所で若い世代を受け入れる仕組みが広がれば５年後、１０年後には大きなネットワークを構築でき、将来に対する大きな力となります。
そしてこれらが大学のカリキュラムと連動できれば学生たちは数ヶ月単位の経験を数カ国で過ごすことができます。
これからの旅は容易ではないと思います。
しかしセブでのIFLA APR大会で私には多くの励ましと激励を受けました。
多くの若いデリゲートたちからは進んで協力を申し出てくれました。
また経験豊かな今までの首脳陣は継続して今までの方向性を強めてくれます。
何よりも嬉しいのはダミアンから共に同じ船に乗ってこれからの旅を協力してくれる申し出があったことです。
私はこの仕事をとても誇りに思っております。
この世界には多くの人々が夢を持って生活しております。
しかしその多くは夢を実現する術を探しております。
我々の仕事はそれらの人々に出会いその夢を共有しその夢の実現
に立ち向かうことができます。
素晴らしい仕事です。
それは我々だけの世代ではなく
すぐれた情熱を持つ若い世代へ引き継いでで行くことを共に目指し
たいと思います。
まだいる多くの未加入国へ語りかけ、インターンシップ制度を拡
充、新しいメンバーと共にそのプロセスを共有しましょう。
今までの先人たちの築いたプラットフォームの上で多くの人々
が自由にパフォーマンスできる柔軟性に満ちたダイナミックな
IFLA APR共に目指しましょう。
